Areas of Practice
Residential Developments
Landscape design for housebuilders and residential developers, from site appraisal to handover. We are brought in at masterplan stage, when decisions about water, trees and shared space still cost nothing to change.
Who we work with
- Housebuilders bringing forward residential schemes
- Developers working on apartments, mixed-use and phased sites
- Architects and planning consultants who need landscape input
- Landowners assessing what a site can carry
Service by stage
Feasibility and site appraisal
Before the layout is fixed, we test what the site will allow.
- Landscape and site appraisal, including soils, drainage, trees and existing habitat
- Constraints and opportunity plan for the design team
- Landscape input to capacity, layout and density options
Pre-planning and design development
A landscape strategy that holds up in the drawings and in the submission.
- Landscape masterplan and green infrastructure strategy
- Design of streets, courtyards, play space and communal landscape
- Surface water, planting and establishment strategy
Planning submission
The landscape evidence a planning authority will read.
- Landscape design statement for the application
- Landscape and visual impact input where the scheme requires it
- Planting and habitat plans, plus responses to landscape conditions
Construction and handover
Drawings a contractor can build and a management company can maintain.
- Detailed landscape drawings and specification
- Planting schedules and an establishment programme
- Maintenance schedules and a handover pack
What you receive
Working with your team
We work alongside your architect, engineer, ecologist and planning consultant, and we are used to joining a design team early enough to be useful rather than arriving with a finished layout to decorate. Fees are set by stage, so you can appoint us for the appraisal alone, through planning, or to completion.
Statutory assessment and reporting requirements differ between schemes and jurisdictions. We confirm what each site actually needs with your planning consultant rather than assuming a standard list applies everywhere.
Concept work
The development work published in our Design Studies is concept work. These studies test how a site could absorb water, hold planting and share space before a layout is fixed, and they are not records of completed schemes. Client commissions are published only with permission.

Send us the location, the scale and where you are in the process. If landscape input is still optional on the scheme, that is exactly when to call.
