Castle Leslie Estate

A proposed comprehensive ecological masterplan for one of Ireland's most celebrated private estates — restoring 400 hectares of mixed woodland, glacial lakes, and traditional Irish demesne landscape to full ecological health. The project would weave together historic parkland management, native woodland expansion, and extensive wetland creation into a single, coherent vision for the estate's next century.

Our Approach

We would begin with a full ecological baseline survey covering woodland structure, lake water quality, soil carbon, and species inventories. The masterplan that would emerge would identify twelve distinct landscape zones, each with a bespoke management and planting strategy. Ancient oak woodland would be restored through veteran tree protection and under-storey clearing; three wetland areas would be rehydrated by blocking 19th-century field drains.
