Services
A proposal to reinvent a neglected 3-acre Georgian walled garden as a productive, biodiverse food landscape that would serve both the estate household and the wider community. The design would reinstate the traditional four-square layout of the original kitchen garden while layering in contemporary ecological thinking — companion planting, no-dig growing beds, a native orchard, and extensive wildflower borders that support the pollinators essential to productive horticulture.
Our Approach
Historic research would reveal the garden's original 1780s layout, which would inform our design closely. We would retain and restore the original brick paths and glasshouse infrastructure, while building new deep-bed growing systems using on-site compost. A newly planted heritage apple and pear orchard of 40 Irish varieties would form the productive heart of the garden.
